After I
decided that Don Coyote's (1) head was far too large and
blocky, I started to build a new head using a method of
sculpting sheet foam instead of carving out of a block.
However, in about April, I came up with the idea of a fox
dressed in Renaissance period clothing (based on a
non-player character on an online role playing game I take
part in), and the result of this was to take what I had of
the foam head, and turn it into a fox head. Rupelli was
born.
The original costume was fairly simple in concept. All I
needed to get done was the head and a tail. The rest of it
would be just clothing. As it turned out, the 'fur' part -
the head and tail - were the easy parts of the costume. The
Renaissance clothing I had to do a combination of ordering
from online stores, and also heading down to the Renaissance
Pleasure Faire being held in San Bernadino. I ended up
paying more for the clothing than I did for the cost of the
fur and foam combined!
