Who
is Francisco?
Um, well, I
am! Francisco is who I would consider to be my personal avatar.
Originally, he was created back in the early part of 1997 to be
a roleplaying character for an online world known as Sinai.
He started out as a 330-something year old Kitsune who was expelled
from Earth to the world of Sinai, and took the form of a five-tailed
anthropomorphic grey fox. Why a grey fox, and not a red, arctic,
fennec or other kind of fox? Why the name 'Francisco'? He was a
grey fox because they are more native to the west coast of the USA
than red foxes (which were originally imported), and he wanted to
'blend in' when not masquerading as a human, and I picked out the
name since I was about to move over to the San Francisco Bay Area
from the UK. Francisco eventually picked up a last name of Azinsan
- this directly came from the roleplay, where he would introduce
himself as, "Francisco.... as in San" as a reference to
the city. "As in San" soon became heard as "Azinsan",
and thus became considered a last name.
In further character
development - not connected with Sinai - and due to my love for
gryphons, I determined that one of Francisco's parents was actually
a gryphon - his father. To complicate matters a little more for
him, Francisco never really knew his father, and remained kitsune
through his five tails. As he was about to gain his sixth, his heritage
crept up on him and he became quite aware of his gryphon side. Instead
of gaining the extra tail, he instead transformed into a mixture
between a kitsune and a gryphon - a term I coined as a gryfsune.
He did have some degree of control over what his gryphon form was,
and was able to choose a very brightly colored avian - brightly
colored because he loved the wild colors of things like Hawaiian
shirts. So, his gryphon self is a mixture of Rainbow Lorikeet and
Grey fox (Lyosha is
the one to blame for this thought!)
For reference
purposes, here are the various descriptions of Francisco - for both
grey fox and gryphon forms (of which there are both anthropomorphic
and non forms)

Francisco
appears as a gray fox morph, about five and a half
feet tall. Dark 'pepper' colored fur covers most of
the exposed parts of his body, with only patches of
red around the bases of his ears and muzzle. He's
wearing an open-necked rather gaudy colored short-sleeved
shirt, native to where he comes from, the sheer mass
and intermingling colors of which has a tendancy of
giving anyone who looks at it for a long time a headache.
Also on, he sports a pair of dark knee length shorts,
with a hole in the back for his tails - all 5 of them.
That's right - five pepper colored tails, each about
2 feet long, for Francisco is one of them Kitsune
critters.

A somewhat
strangish gryphon-like creature is before you, and
even stranger that this critter is the kitsune Francisco.
(Oh, but of course - kitsune do have a formshifting
ability you remember) As you would expect a gryphon
to be, half of him is avian, but the other form is
greyfox. Well, almost anyway. His avian half is very
akin to a rainbow Lorikeet having a orangey-red beak,
blueish head, of which yellow tuftish ears rise from,
then melding into a green behind his head. A pair
of rainbow colored wings arch backwards from just
over the shoulderblades of his taloned arms. His chestfeathers
form an orangey-red band around him, that slowly turn
into the dusty grey and ruddy fur of a grey fox, of
which his lower body is. Almost, anyway, as instead
of a foxish tail, Frysco has long tailfeathers - again,
in the bright rainbow colors of his avian half. In
fact, if you look closer (don't be _too_ obvious and
stare, okay?) you make out that these tailfeathers
are actually made up of five distinct feathers. He's
about the same height as his other Kitsune form -
about five and a half feet tall digitigrade, and his
wings, if outstretched, would be about 14 feet wide.
But anyway, considering he still has five tails, clashing
colors, he's hardly changed much!
